A dating website that helps married people cheat has been hit by hackers who threatened to release information about millions of customers.
Ashley Madison, which uses the advertising slogan Life is short. Have an affair, said Monday it had been attacked and some user data was stolen.
Brian Krebs, the blogger behind Krebs on Security, first reported the breach late on Sunday. Krebs said the hackers posted some data and were threatening to release all Ashley Madisons customer records if their demands were not met.

Whoops, sorry about the title. Mods, please correct.
it will be for divorce lawyers...
A story where a criminal hacking consortium might actually be the Good Guys?
Another sign of the end times I suppose.
Wonder how many pols are in the member ranks? Now that this is out, they can be owned.
My guess is that about 3% of the information on that website is real.
The fact they they are making the release conditional based on the meeting of their demands doesn’t sound “Good Guy” to me. It sounds like they just understand the vue of the data from a site like that.
One of their demands is that this site be shut down. In the view of many that alone makes them good guys.
Bill Clinton is getting worried, hope his name doesn’t get leaked
Thousands of Democrat pols are hoping the data with their names in it gets released...
...so they can increase their “street cred” with the Democrat base.
Then they are probably hacked by adult friend finder...their competition is trying to remove them.
I once had a free membership emailed to me. I signed up (with my wife’s permission) and set up a profile that was the most outrageous thing in the world.
I set myself up to be the gold diggers’ wet dream.
I would sit in my chair at night and read the letters from the women trying to “connect.”
When the list comes out, I will need to have my wife put together a notarized statement indicating she was a party to my antics.
I admit I did’t read the demands. Thanks for the response.
This should be entertaining. On the bright side, if the NSA has been using this to blackmail Repubs, Supreme Court justices, etc., they will no longer be “owned.”
Love it! I think it’s great when a couple can have good fun like that together.
Not all hackers are bad. Good to know!
That was you?

What idiot would use a website to commit adultery?
