REPORT: Obama Looks to Ban Social Security Recipients from Owning Guns

Back in 2008 Barack Obama promised his supporters that he would not take their guns.
I believe in the Second Amendment. I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I wont take your handgun away But I am not going to take your guns away. So if you want to find an excuse not to vote for me, dont use that one because it just aint true. It aint true.
Via Free Republic:
His campaign also ran this ad: Barack Obama WONT Take Away Your Gun obama guns union
But that was in 2008.
Now this Barack Obama is looking to ban Social Security recipients from owning guns as part of his new gun control policies. FOX News reported:
The Obama administration wants to keep people collecting Social Security benefits from owning guns if it is determined they are unable to manage their own affairs, the Los Angeles Times reported.
The push, which could potentially affect millions whose monthly disability payments are handled by others, is intended to bring the Social Security Administration in line with laws that prevent gun sales to felons, drug addicts, immigrants in the United States illegally, and others, according to the paper.
The language of federal gun laws restricts ownership to people who are unable to manage their own affairs due to marked subnormal intelligence, or mental illness, incompetency, condition, or disease which could potentially affect a large group within Social Security, the LA Times reported.
If Social Security, which has never taken part in the background check system, uses the same standard as the Department of Veterans Affairs which is the idea floated then millions of beneficiaries could be affected, with about 4.2 million adults receiving monthly benefits that are managed by representative payees.
Trying to set a precedent.
He’s been trying to do that in a couple of areas. That’s what the .223 ammo ban attempt was about. Obama tried to get gun control after Sandy Hook, starting with background checks, it didn’t fly and he said he would keep chipping away at it. Background checks already in place have made no difference...
This is just one avenue he’s trying to exploit. It’s already an issue with vets apparently, according to reports I’ve read thousands have been sent letters by the VA telling them they can no longer own firearms due to PTSD.
Once the precedent is set, it’s easy to move on to the next ban. “I got that one so this one is ok too.” Soon as the ammo ban attempt by ATF failed, a couple of Democrats in Congress introduced bills to ban ammo. I haven’t seen any further reports, so I’m assuming those failed, not sure.

So far, no action has been taken, so I assume those bills are tabled or in a committee somewhere.
That's just laughable....
Why would I?
No record of it.
I later found that gun, though.....
I'd laid it down in the garage...one day, and found it 1 hour later.
Well....you must not have guns to pay taxes.
That’s what I’m thinking but haven’t seen any news articles since I originally found out about it, a few days after the ATF ban failed. The one I linked is not the only one, it was a different website where I found the original story, that’s just one of the first that popped up in a google search.
You'll see that only in your dreams. In this world, Nobama will be celebrated for his tyranny. The Gibsmedats chant his name as if it were holy.
You are right the SS or any other Fed agency better not be the ones deciding competency. That is strictly the purview of the courts.
