An amateur is leading the British Open.
Paul Dunne, a 22-year-old Irishman, claimed the top spot all to himself with a birdie on the 10th hole Sunday. That took his overall score to 11 under, pushing him ahead of a group that included Jordan Spieth.
Dunne played collegiately at Alabama-Birmingham and went through qualifying to earn his spot in the Open. He plans to turn professional later this summer and try to claim a spot on the European Tour.

Needs a miracle shot now....
Great putt by Oosthuizen on 17...
Yep, Oostey has an excellent chance of getting in the playoff now.
Jordan’s done. One shot too many. Not bad for a twenty-one year old though.
Oosthuizen can with win a birdie.
Makes you appreciate just how hard it is to win a Grand Slam. Jordan will have plenty of chances.
Been waiting to say this... Day is done.
Day blows his chance to get to the playoff.
Now all eyes on Oostey, needs a birdie to get in the playoff.
Sorry, Oosthuizen needs birdie to tie.
How do you leave that putt short if you’re Day in that situation?
I’m rooting for Zach to win it.
Nerves. Nerves will stiffen your back. make your hands feel like lead weights, and cause you to lock your knees when on the tee. Been there, done that.
Positive stuck that approach. Not gimme length but pretty close.
Good show by Dunne.
Oostey is in! Three-way playoff!
Three-way playoff...
Hope Zach isn’t too rusty from sitting in that clubhouse.
Awright! Oosty has been very consistent in the tourney. His high round of 70 was not a bad round. Three under today in the hunt is a fine statement! What an exciting finish this is!
We’ll see if Zach has some more golf in him....
Got it on ESPN radio. Oosty getting closer! Zach to hit now. Wedge approach is nice food ... ten feet away! Two will continue tot he next hole. Leishman not gonna birdie now. Gott a make it thru the 17th again! Oosty has the advantage if it gets there.
