Dunne played collegiately at Alabama-Birmingham and went through qualifying to earn his spot in the Open. He plans to turn professional later this summer and try to claim a spot on the European Tour.
For now, he's the one everyone is chasing at the home of golf. There hasn't been an amateur winner of the Open since Bobby Jones in

We actually have an amazing Links style course right here in Central Alabama. Part of the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail. Course is The Senator at Capitol Hill.
The Nike Tour Championship was held there for a few years and the LPGA Navistar Classic is held there every year.
Awesome course with waste high rough, pot bunkers and blind shots galore.

I lived up in Anniston before the Trent Jones course was opened up just North of there. I played at Stoney Brook and Indian Oaks regularly. Went up to Goose Pond a lot and Turtle Creek. Played the Trent Jones course in B’ham some.

Mister Johnson has struggled with this hole all weekend. Oosty putts ... leaves it six feet for par. Done deal for his putter.

The grip on the putter in these situations is so hard to loosen up. These two putts are crucial. Oosty goes first from 5 feet.

Without a doubt the greatest single hole in all of golf, and one that no designer could even get past the drawing stage today.
