Dear McDonalds:
(1) - People don't come to you because they forgot to dress appropriately for Morton's or Ruth's Chris. They come to you because they want to get some food into the screaming rugrats in the back seat and get some change from a twenty.
(2) - Your company made Ray Kroc and a lot of franchise holders very wealthy with a menu consisting of less than ten items, all prepared fresh.

Kroc was pretty much single-handedly responsible for the propagation of frozen french fries. When he was alive the stores were already making burgers ahead of time and letting them sit a few minutes before they were sold.
That said, the company lost its track a LONG time ago. In the '70s, McDonald's moved, and everyong followed. Some variant of the Egg McMuffin is on nearly every breakfast menu from other chains to greasy spoons to upscale diners.
Same for Chicken McNuggets.
Kroc-era stores were
#1 CLEAN!
#2 As uniform as possible in presentation of menu items (though test marketing was possible). Consistency.
#3 Always the fastest in its class.
They have failed on #1 and #2, and miss as often as hit on #3.

I remember when McDonald’s was just starting, french fries came from bags of potatoes, like Five Guys. Had to be a certain moisture level. They were deep fried right there and were delicious.
Today, they add sugar to their meat. They add sugar to their buns. The food is poor quality.
We quit going there years ago.
