If Charon is reflective, i.e. white, that amount of light should be significant to show Pluto night side details, given the sensitivity of the detectors this probe is carrying.
Weeks ago, Charon was determined to have an albedo (i.e., reflectivity) of 36-39% - comparable to Earth's. While that does not make them "white," it does mean that Charon sheds sufficient light upon the dark side of Pluto for NH's camera to discern significant details.
