The closest approach will be a bit over 7000 miles and inside the orbit of Charon. It will be over in a few hours but the craft will be sending pictures back for a year or more.

Inside Charon's orbit will hopefully mean some awesome shots of both together.A strange distant new world,never before seen by human eyes.How could anyone not be excited by that!?
