Tax Cuts Haven’t Done Much to Boost Job Growth in Wisconsin or Other Tax-Cutting States

More evidence is piling up that states that made big tax cuts in recent years – including Wisconsin – are failing to keep up with the rest of the country when it comes to job growth.
The idea that cutting taxes could spur economic growth is not new, but advocates for tax cuts overlook several factors that determine the extent to which tax cuts contribute to growth in employment: Taxes pay for services that businesses and families need.
Excellent schools, a solid transportation network, and safe communities all help establish an economic environment conducive to creating jobs – and all depend on revenue from state and local taxes.
Other factors are much more important to a state’s economic growth. Trends in the national and regional economies, the level of education of a state’s workforce, population growth, and even a state’s climate can have a bigger impact on the state’s economy than the amount of taxes paid.
Any economic benefit of cutting taxes is offset by reduced spending by the state, which slows the economy.
Lawmakers have passed nearly $2 billion in tax cuts in Wisconsin since 2011, but those tax cuts haven’t done much to contribute to job growth. Wisconsin’s rate of private sector job creation has consistently ranged between 50% and 75% of the national rate since 2011, as shown in the chart below.

That slow rate of job growth has its roots in many economic factors, and cannot be solely traced back to economic policies pursued by Wisconsin lawmakers in recent years. But it’s clear that significant tax cuts in Wisconsin have not led to the hoped-for job growth. - See more at: Link

well, these predictive econ studies aren’t usually worth the paper the’re printed on. but i’d have less distrust in say the laffer/alec economic forcast and that has wisconsins *economic outlook* (what ever that is in the eyes of laffer) currently ranked
#13 of th 50 states.
in addition, using the same 15 point criteria based largely on tax and fiscal policy criteria, wisconsin’s been rising in that index thusly in the last few years according to alec:

anecdotally, i know i’m buying a lot of materials and product from wisconsin business. my wife’s lab (stanford medical) is installing a new medical info system based in wisconsin.
alec has another ranking based on what they call economic performance putting wisc at just #43 (apparently based on gdp, out migration, growth of non-farm payroll (2.3%), etc.
FRs can draw their own conclusions about this and your post, but imo, all of this can easily be interpreted (given wisc history as a deep blue socialist state) as a massive turnaround due to scott walker’s election at this time in that state.
You may want to look at that again. The webpage's mast says today. The article says April 2013. And if you follow the link to the original source it also points out that the data is from April 2013.
As for your new article, does this mean you oppose tax cuts as a stimulus? If so, you need to change your posting name.

For what ever reason, the policies employed in Wisconsin are not helping the middle class. That is a fact you will hear over and over in economic discussions. Tune in the Fox Business.
While you’re at it, do a little research on Walker’s WEDC, created and Chaired by him until the legislature removed him from that position last month.
