Bubble Wrap, the packaging material popular with shippers and toddlers alike, is losing its pop. Sealed Air Corp. , the original seller of Bubble Wrap since 1960, is rolling out a revamped version of its signature product. Dubbed iBubble Wrap, the new packaging is sold in flat plastic sheets that the shipper fills with air using a custom-made pump. The inflated bubbles look much like traditional Bubble Wrap, with one key difference: They dont burst when pressure is applied.
Charlotte N.C.-based Sealed Air is betting iBubble Wrap will appeal to space-conscious online retailers who are driving swift growth in the global packaging business, even as fans are disappointed by the lack of pop. Traditional Bubble Wrap ships in giant, pre-inflated rolls, taking up precious room in delivery trucks and on customers warehouse floors. One roll of the new iBubble Wrap uses roughly one-fiftieth as much space before its inflated.

I want the popping version, especially if it is coving earring that mug shot.
Me too! That new product is doomed to failure.
I would advise shippers to use the styrofoam "peanuts" instead but as a receiver of such a package .... have you ever tried to get rid of those things? If you accidently spill them it's like herding feral cats to collect them all!
Thickie Holden!
There’s a Red Dwarf ping list? Wow.
Would you put me on it, please?
At first, i thought it said that Hillary lost her pop.
My mistake.
Done! Welcome aboard!
Yep. I had a opened box with those peanuts sitting on the back seat of my car that fell over when I had to brake hard and those damned peanuts went everywhere. And to make matters worse, I had my car windows open so it was like a mini tornado of Styrofoam and they also got statically charged, I guess from flying around and they stuck to everything - me and the windshield of my car included. I went to the carwash to vacuum them out, but the static charge made most of them jump away before the force of the vacuum could suck them up. Even after cleaning up as many as I could, for almost a year, every couple of days Id get into my car to find a lone peanut on my seat or on the dashboard or steering wheel - staring at me with their tiny Styrofoam eyes, taunting me, daring me to catch them : ),
I purchase quite a few things from Amazon and notice they do not use bubble wrap or Styrofoam "peanuts but what I would call air filled pillows:
And surprisingly no matter how hard you try, they do not pop. It takes way to much force to break them and when you finally do, all you get is a very unsatisfying "whoosh".
If the bubbles cannot pop, then the air inside can be compressed sufficiently in a sudden movement as to cease protecting the content and cause damage instead.
LOL! I just want to pop him! We took a 8 foot roll of the stuff once and drove forklift over it. Sounded like a small war zone. :)
