We’re supposed to be excited about girls playing Communist Kickball?
Germany looked like they didn’t sleep last night. Japan returns us to Earth 2-0 after easily dispatching England by the same score.
Games have been largely disappointing. The gap in the level of play between men and women seems to have greatly widened.
Refereeing throughout the tournament has been absolutely horrendous.
The US attack was not weak, the German defense was just excellent.
So was ours, heh heh!
Both teams played full throttle, and in the end, the US teams' fitness prevailed.
Great game!

USA USA USA
Who hits cleanup?
How many Bruce Jenner type women do we have on our team?
Well, I am German and i do think the better team won. Granted, the US team did profit from a few really bad calls but that`s the game.
In the end the Germans have only themselves to blame. They played a really weak first half and when it looked like they`d finally get going Sasic missed the penalty.
I`m only sorry France ended up losing to Germany. They are the strongest team by far at the moment and really would have given the US a run for their money.
I’m pretty sure that in the wake of recent Supreme Court decisions, we’re now required to like women’s soccer.
I agree Germany didn’t make the case that they were the better team; I just hate results driven by bad calls. As you say, that’s the game; I’m not holding my breath waiting for it to take off in popularity here in the US due to basic flaws like that. To the women’s credit, they seem to dive a lot less than the men...
Sure; I just hope whoever wins the final wins it convincingly.
It seems a few of the teams are unable to “finish” (they have no strikers); they’ll get a good opening, and seem confused as to what to do with it.
I thought the refereeing balanced out pretty well, which is all one can ask. The refs were letting them play. Some are arguing for a red card on Julie Johnston on the play that led to Germany's missed PK. That was a close call. Julie Johnston was playing a high ball. She had her arms extended as she slowed and appeared to be ready to head the ball. The German player ran through her from behind. Johnston did hook her as she rushed past, but the offensive player initiated the contact as she pushed Johnston out of the way from behind, which dragged Johnston's extended arm across her shoulder.
The most glaring non-call the other way was probably the foul on Alex Morgan, in possession of the ball, as she got wrestled to the ground deep in the box right at the end of the first half. Morgan was pretty well boxed in. There was no need for all the grabbing as she probably didn't have a shot, but she had arms wrapped around her and was pulled down.
