I have thought about the same passage in the Old Testament. Judah was still punished for child sacrifices. America can expect no less.
God has a different sense of time and justice. Take this for example:
“And in her was found the blood of prophets and of saints (holy ones) and of all who have been slain on the earth.”
Rev 18:24
His full wrath against every murder from Able onward is spent against those who follow lawlessness. It’s like when we are hurt over and over in the same way but let it slide until one time we just get sick of it and, boom! We lose it. Can you imagine being God and knowing all the evil that is going on?
