Three firearms is really all any person/couple needs. (especially if they are not “gun people” - I’ve heard those exist) A shotgun, a handgun and a rifle. That will handle any self defense/hunting situation. Practice regularly and keep all the ammo in stock (and set back in reserve) you can afford. You are set. Guns don’t run out...ammo does.

Quite right...and remember, that when it comes to your ammunition stock, first-in-first-out (FIFO) applies. Use your oldest ammunition up first and replenish it with NEW ammunition. Keep track of the “age” of each wave of ammunition you buy so you can correctly continue the FIFO process.
It’s as important to do this FIFO process for your ammunition as it is for your food supplies.
