1) I copied the title of the article into the search box and nothing came up. Admittedly, I didn’t scroll down the page.

2) 120 responses and counting, so I’d say people are interested.

My experience has been that a single word works best for searching.

Example:
Palin
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/search?m=all;o=time;q=quick;s=palin

Bristol
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/search?m=all;o=time;q=quick;s=Bristol
