No need for a conspiracy theory.

John Roberts and the Republicans in congress are behaving exactly as is to be expected.

They continue to support big business as they always have.

Conservatives in general used to support big business as well. That was in the days when the average American was a God-fearing Christian and it just made good business sense for big business to at least pretend they supported high moral standards, frugality, independence, small government, etc.

Now that the average consumer ... er did I mean to say American? ... is a pagan hedonist it makes good business sense for big business to out themselves as the pagan hedonists they have always been (e.g. Mad Men.)

The good news is that big business no longer has to hide in the closet pretending they support the Judeo-Christian tradition. They can be out and proud as greedy, amoral materialists.

Likewise, the two political parties and their senior members are soon going to be able to give up all pretense that they are "good Christian folk" that support traditional families, the Constitution, and all that old timey stuff.

The enemy of Christianity has always been there. They were just lurking in the shadows until it was time to pounce.

Perhaps now the GW Bush admirers on this site will have second thoughts - the “conservative” who brought us the mess in Iraq and the mess on the Supreme Court.
