I sometime feel the same way. But give up? Not in my book. What’s next, suicide?

In 1972 on my last trip back to the states, I was laying in the Naval Hospital at Kobi, Japan.
I was pretty beat up and felt like there was no reason to continue on, according to the news my war was lost.
The Catholic Chaplin did not have time for me, the Protestant Chaplin did not have time for me.
The Jewish Chaplin on the other hand took the time to tell me a little story.
The story was about a group of people who had been defeated in wars, humiliated, tortured, murdered, and even had attempts made upon them to eradicate them from the face of the earth (Armenian holocaust & Nazi holocaust) for the last 5000 years.
The Chaplin told me my duty and responsibility was to get well, then stand back up on my feet and keep fighting until the day I died.
That Chaplin was Captain Victor M. Solomon.
I never forgot his words and they have served me and my family well for the last 43 years.
He eventually retired as a full bird Colonel, last I heard he lives some where in the New York area. I AM AN AMERICAN MARINE. I WILL NEVER QUIT. I WILL NEVER SURRENDER. THE BATTLE IS NEVER OVER UNTIL THE LAST OF THE ENEMY IS DEAD AT YOUR FEET.
