I can’t believe that anyone who grew up reading Science Fiction in the 50s, 60s, and 70s would think that the first movie was anything other than boring crap. Saw it the first night thinking that there was finally going to be a good sci/fi movie. So disappointing.

Sci-fi book readership before and after Star Wars would be an interesting factoid to know. I think after Star Wars more folks started to first think of movies/TV when they hear the term ‘sci-fi.’ For me it will always be ‘books.’ But when I hear the term ‘western’ I first think of movies/TV.
