Wow! I haven’t heard of her in years. I was crazy about her.
Strange ranger, deplorable politics....but what a voice!
Marianne Faithful.
THE very one. How soon they forget.
I was lucky enough to see her live in ‘69. What a show!
Emmylou Harris
I love her.
Allison Krause
How could I have forgotten Allison Krauss ? The voice of an angel.
Barbara Cook
Judy Collins
Georgia Brown
Ella
I like every one that people are naming, but not Barbara Streisand.
Oh, no. She was probably my favorite over all. She didn’t really make all that many albums - she mostly starred in movies. Perhaps that affected her legend. But some of the older gays remember her.
Really!! I was only one :) She and Meatloaf were my introduction to music. And my brother playing Deep Purple lol
She was great, wasn’t she, in concert? Class act too.
It’s about time someone mentioned Grace Slick!
How about Jacqui McShee? I saw her once with John Renbourn in an acoustic concert in a small theatre and her voice was transcendent.
And I am really surprised no one has mentioned Annie Haslam yet.
Juice Newton?
Wow.
That’s a blast from the past
Nice.
Shania Twain - anything But for Bruce Jenner, “Feel Like a Woman”

Reba McIntyre
Tina Turner (Nutbush City, Proud Mary)
Sara Vaugh (Broken Hearted Melody, one of the greatest rock/cha cha’s of all time)
Donna Summers
Madonna (Borderline)
Phoebe Snow
Joni Mitchell
Sinead O’Connor
Cass Elliott
Alison Krauss
Grace Slick
and many more
To another post, I love Dionne Warwick’s voice, it is so soft, something.
To Judith Durham, the brother of Dusty Springfield wrote some of the Seekers’ songs like Georgy Girl. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Georgy_Girl_%28song%29 (He wrote “I’ll never find another you” as well)
What some people may not know is that he and Dusty sang for the Springfields, so the Springfields were almost like an early incarnation of the Seekers, similar at least, but Dusty split and of course, she had a big effect on the music pop scene.
But I love the way Dusty Springfield sang for the original group, the Springfields;

Anyway, just my view.
I forgot about Delores O’Riordon and Debby Harry.
