Did that ass get the states wrong? This always bugs me about know-it-all Brits. They condescend to us and then pull something stupid like that. A lib friend of mine who told me Washington DC was above Boston and a Guardianista who said that Arizona was a Confederate state in the Deep South.

A lib friend of mine who told me Washington DC was above Boston...It used to be there before global warming caused the polar ice caps to melt, which resulted in DC floating south to its present location.

Actually, Arizona was a Confederate Territory in 1861 with a Governor and a Delegate to the C.S. Congress (named Marcus MacWillie). It slightly pre-dated AZ becoming a U.S. territory in 1863. Its boundaries included the southern portions of present AZ & NM, stretching from the panhandle of TX all the way to CA.
