Glen was an extraordinarily gifted musician and did MANY sessions as a part of the famous “Wrecking Crew” led by Hal Blaine.

He played on most of the Beach Boys hits and traveled with them for concerts after Brian Wilson stopped touring.

“Wichita Lineman” is one of the most haunting songs Jimmy Webb ever wrote and Glen performed it perfectly.

I am a lineman for the county
And I drive the main road
Searchin’ in the sun for another overload

I hear you singin’ in the wire,
I can hear you through the whine
And the Wichita lineman is still on the line

I know I need a small vacation
But it don’t look like rain
And if it snows that stretch down south won’t ever stand the strain

And I need you more than want you,
And I want you for all time
And the Wichita lineman is still on the line

He played on over 3,000 recordings. Including Frank Sinatra. I saw an interview where he was asked if he thought he was the greatest guitar player of all time. He said “I’d say the most versatile guitar player.”

Thank you both for the GC trivia. :)

Taxcontrol, any examples of him playing the bagpipes out there to be heard?
