I’ve got a cousin on the Arizona. The environmental whackos want the ships removed because they are still leaking oil.
I haven’t heard that about the eviros and the Arizona (and I’d really like to see them try it)
There has been talk of building some sort of cofferdam around the ship. There’s still a lot of fuel oil (and we’re talking really nasty bunker b stuff) in her and the hull is deteriorating. If the hull lets loose it’s going to be a huge mess. But there’s a worry that the hull is already too fragile to drill into for removal AND that the oil may actually be providing the structural support necessary to prevent a collapse.
