You probably attributed that saying to the right person, Wise Indian.
I always thought "flying hawk with snake in talons should not make toasted snake sandwich near powerlines was one of the lines that Matthew McConaughey says in a Lincoln MKC television commercial.
My favorite old wise indian saying is:
Wise old Indian make sayings. Young buck make war.
Howya!
Just spent an hour out in the shade with a nice breeze...105.
I’m hoping Walmart is nearly done with their makeover. I was going to get a new sunshade for the truck, but the entire automotive section was torn up and the area that would have had the sunshades was filled with people.
So I came home and checked the three automotive stores and when they opened, I started with the one farthest south and worked my way north, since they are all on the same side of the street. (It was planned, back in the day when Boulder Highway was only two lanes. Smart businesses set up on the northbound side to get the people coming into Vegas BEFORE Vegas could get their money! Used car lots were mostly on the southbound side...people selling their cars to pay gambling debts!)
Anyway, I found sunshade at Pep Boys, but that store is usually my last choice. The other shade was too limp to stay up, even with the visors holding it.
Now I can take my BP! The batts weren’t too expensive at Walmart, so I got cards of eight AAs and AAAs.
” Just spent an hour out in the shade with a nice breeze...105.”
Nice!
My weather is 113 today, but due to cool off to 112 on Thursday......
It is only 98 here. I just got back from Walmart. I got Kathleen some Princess Sophia stickers to encourage her to use the toilet.
Anoreth was reported to be in Richmond, VA, before Bill left for work about an hour ago ... so she should be here before bedtime. I got her some beer. Now I need to move all the cats’ things into the sunroom for the duration of Dog’s visit.
Nice! By Friday, we are expecting the “M” word. Any rumors of that for the Valley of the Sun?
How have you been? I haven’t seen you post for a while, so I have no clue as to what’s been going on in your life. (If it’s not too personal, that is!) :o]
TC, hope all is well for you. Your family sounds fine.
Face. you must mean MONSOON, and I’m ready for it. Haven’t been on FR much this month. Everything izz OK.
I didn’t get any beer, though the idea DID cross my mind. I think I need to lose another two pounds before I drink again. Maybe by Saturday I will do that...
The big plans for the house were foiled today by my quest for the Perfect Sunshade For Mr. Bill, so I will try again tomorrow.
And will try to also sort my clothes. In talking with one of my neighbors, she said she had actually spoken to the inspector from the health department who said there were no bedbugs in the laundry room and never have been. I don’t know about that, but I feel better about going there. And maybe tomorrow will be the day I wash clothes, rather than do the floors.
Sadly, I have to wash my sheets separately, as the machines aren’t large enough to hold clothes AND sheets. “Boats and no Liberty...”
*ahem* I was trying to avoid the “M” word! LOL! I already know they are on the way because my arthritis told me so!
I’m glad to know you are OK, sjb. You are missed...we love our FRiends! <3
Yes, we’re all doing well. Anoreth and Bill are going to drive to her new post in Seattle, departing on Saturday. At least we have a bed for her, with Tom and Elen away at their camp counselor jobs.
Deeply impressed with your weight loss! I poked my head in at my WW meeting yesterday on the way to Frank’s swimming lesson and told them I’ll be back when Frank can swim.
Thanks! I just had to get back to the things that have always worked and not try to do something different. When I have reached my goal (18 more pounds) I will treat myself to a steak dinner out, and remember to be conscientious about it. Although I would like a baked potato with it, I have learned all I need is a bite or two to satisfy the cravings.
I need to do this for my back and my BP and that’s the name of the story!
Wasn’t she stationed in the PNW a few years back?
We’re having a heat wave. It’s going to be triple digits over the 4th of July.
Yes, she was there from 2009 to 2011 or 12, although she was at sea a good part of the time. She won’t be thrilled to arrive in hot weather - might as well have gone to Fort Bragg, then!
That sounds more like the Julian date than a temperature.
It’s a rare occurrence, fortunately. It’s usually quite nice here.
Anoreth and Dog are here. Dog needs a bath.
I just checked the pain pills I got yesterday morning and they are Extended Release. I can’t take them so I will need to drive back into Vegas for a new prescription. Of all the stinking luck.
I’m on perma-hold with Walgreens. I have verify the prescription was for ER instead of Immediate Release.
OH, blarg.
