The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
Yep it’s Monday, and tomorrow I see the ortho surgeon to find out if I will need surgery on my neck.
I just got groceries twice this last week, and I’m already making a list of things I couldn’t get. LOL!
Data’s cat was an orange tabby, iirc, named Spot.
I’ve been to the park with a few kids, and next I’m going to load up another batch to go to the gym for Frank’s swimming lesson and other activities.
I gave a Star Trek Technical Manual to my son, and one to the guy who used to work on my computer. I wish now that I had gotten one for myself!
The humidity is down somewhat, and the temp is only 83, so it feels pretty cool right now. How are you feeling today?
According to the poster at Good Morning Kitten, the father was an “extreme-face” Persian. It’s probably hard for them to breathe, poor things.
I will head out for the post orifice soon; I’m waiting for the community room doors to be unlocked so I can drop off the rent check.
Then Patrick’s package will be headed your way by the end of the day. I hope he likes it!
You are very busy.
Has Kathleen finished her potty training and is Anoreth and dog settled in their new digs?
Any dog or cat with a shortened nose has breathing problems and they usually snore when they sleep as they get older.
But they are so doggone SWEET!!
Thank you! I’m sure Patrick will be pleased. He loves getting mail!
Kathleen went in her diaper at the park, sigh. One step forward, one step back. Tomorrow she’ll be staying home with Tom while I go to Weight Watchers, and he’ll make sure she uses the toilet.
Shannon just waddled by. She would like you to know that she hates everyone. Nyear.
I haven’t been to Good Morning Kitten in eons.
BOokmarking it now.
Ok today. Sleeping better the last two days. Slept most of the weekend, aiming to make it a trifecta.
I can’t believe I didn’t have TP on my list. I think I have two rolls left. Now, it’s at the top of the list and there are several other things just under it.
*sigh* Why is my brems so scarmambled, Cisco?
I want a nap...
Sorry, not Trekkie related at all
Kzinti are the cat like fierce space invaders in Larry Nevins Man Kzint Wars sci-fi novel.
Not at all floofy and cute.

Ah, ok. The only book by Larry Niven I’ve read was Lucifer’s Hammer.
I go to Good Morning Kitten if there’s nothing I like on I Can Has Cheezburger ... or any time Kathleen or Frank comes by asking to see a cat picture.
I’m glad you’re doing better - hope you succeed in sleeping!
I am not feeling well. I got the books mailed, along with the checks for the bills (there are two left that I can’t pay) and I’m having an awful time with whatever is going on.
The nap was about an hour, and I woke up to a cold sweat, nausea and undefined pain in my torso. Maybe my kidneys.
I think I’m going to go back in and lie down where it’s fairly cool and dark. I don’t even know what to take to make me feel better because I don’t know what hurts.
On top of everything else, I’m all shaky and feel like I’m going to lose what little I ate.
Just had some chicken soup. Now I’m lying down for sure. If you need me, text me. Otherwise, i’ll check back in a couple of hours.
Looks like when you lie down everything stops.
Well, I’m up for a bit, long enough for my noon pills almost two hours late, and some bland food to chase them with.
I’ve done a lot of sleeping, but I don’t know if that was the problem or not. I just know after the first nap this morning, I was VERY ill, and although I don’t feel as if I can fight my way out of a wet paper bag, I am better than I was.
Sorry about making things come to a screeching halt. And while it’s on my mind, the Mail Watchers will worry if I’m not out there tomorrow. Besides, which, I have that appointment at Ortho, early.
Pounce!
