Flaming Hawk With Snake in Its Talons Sparks Fire Near La Jolla
NBC Bay Area ^ | Tuesday, Jun 9, 2015 | R. Stickney

Posted on 06/09/2015 5:58:35 PM PDT by nickcarraway

The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line

A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.

San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.

Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.

Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.

Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.

"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.

There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.

This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.

With all those big ol’ ugly boys in your house, I wouldn’t think a floofy screwdriver would scare you...

How was church?

I just had a breathing treatment, and think I’ll go lie down in a bit. And maybe even take a hit of nitro, just in case.

Church was nice, except for Frank’s being a pain. We’ll be going to Walmart after lunch, because it’s too early for nap.

Naptime is over and I still don’t feel so good. My chest is hurting. I don’t know if it was because of the way I was sleeping or something organic.

I will play quietly the rest of the day, and not run with scissors.

Because it’s Sunday, and I’m not feeling well, and I needed a little lift. Enjoy!

Outstanding Face!

Ravel’s Bolero, some assembly required.

Love the late clarinetist running to join in with no music case and suddenly pulls the parts from inside his coat. LOL

Still can’t figure out if the conductor is real or just a street person joining in.

One of my nieces at age five stated that her favorite instruments played in Bolero were the hobo and buffoon.

Well played, good memories for the muscians and audience.

If you can ever find them, there are albums done on an instrument called the “Moog Synthesizer.” (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Moog_synthesizer)
It does a Bolero, which is stupendous, but every piece of music that was recorded took days to complete, as each voice had to be recorded separately. I wish I still had the albums.

I’m here. Another rough night.
My lungs are the culprits. I was out in the wind last week and didn’t use a mask, nor did I use the Albuterol part of the nebulizer.
I have an appointment with the pain clinic today, but I’m going to reschedule it. I don’t feel up to the drive through traffic.
