Flaming Hawk With Snake in Its Talons Sparks Fire Near La Jolla
NBC Bay Area ^ | Tuesday, Jun 9, 2015 | R. Stickney

Posted on 06/09/2015 5:58:35 PM PDT by nickcarraway

The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line

A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.

San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.

Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.

Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.

Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.

"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.

There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.

This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.

The Will was evidently never filed, due to the fact that the matriarch kept changing it. No one seems to know where the original is, but the youngest son has a copy of “a will.”

The Executor was named in the will as it existed at one time, and I doubt that the mom would change her mind on that, since he is the oldest of the three boys.

The only funds that have been released (that we are aware of) are the funeral/cremation funds of $6000, which have been blown through by the middle son and one of his daughters, since he is the one living in the house. The back payments on the mortgage and the funeral costs have not been paid.

I’m sure the idea is to garner as much of the $240000+ as is possible before the eldest and youngest sons have time to contest such action. The eldest signed a “statement” naming the niece as a “representative” but the youngest son is NOT going to sign it, saying it doesn’t sound right, and knowing there is no will filed that they know of.

The niece “Money Grabber” is not paying any bills, not knowing how it is going to affect the final outcome.

She has been trying to get things from her grandmother’s estate since the woman passed away in December. (Money, jewelry, etc.)

Not going to happen. He is smarter than anyone gives him credit for, and has thought the thing was “hinky” from the get-go.

DNA doesn’t define my reality. *I* define my reality.

Now, where are those serfs who are supposed to be serving my lunch?

Good. Not that I have any personal investment in his situation, but it’s annoying when people do really stupid stuff.

In the absence of a reply from our Outer Banks lawyer, my advice would be for him to get a local legal representative asap. His insurance company might be able to recommend one, if it’s a national firm, or he could try the internet with an emphasis on someone nearby to his mother’s location, or call her bank.

Yeah, that's how I felt in November, 2012.

I have asked him to get the documents he is in possession of, and once I have them, I will begin to hunt down the folks on the Letterheads.

The problem with local reps (Las Vegas, don’tcha know) is that they will do as little as possible while taking as much as possible. Which is why I asked for the info on the MA people.

He also needs to contact his brother in KY to let him know that what is going on is designed to make one brother and his daughters the sole heirs. I’m still having a tough time with this because the guy was distracted long about May...and I’m still trying to pick up the pieces.

Yes, by “local rep” I meant in Massachusetts, not in LV. What with the Interwebs, he can look up attorneys in the relevant town, get reviews of them, and email them about their prices to represent him. However, I’m always of the opinion that a bank is a good place to start, if his mother had one. We found the attorney - also former Mayor of Monroe - who did our re-fi closing through a lady in my prayer group who’s a Realtor.

And it’s awfully nice of you to be involved in this at all, considering.

I’m thinking I want to go lie down, but my mind is overwhelmed. There is the DMV in the morning, the prescription for my neck will be ready at 0900, and I’m still trying to figure out who can make a duplicate key for the clutch lock. I don’t want to spend $60 for another, even though it is a very good investment.

And all this stuff with the house and will in MA is driving me totally nutzoid!

I don’t even know what I’ve eaten today, other than Instant Breakfast and a yogurt. *sigh*

I was not happy about the battery this morning...over an HOUR to install it? GAH!!!

And I need to get the laundry done. Only now, I have four loads (two of sheets and towels) instead of just two. *frustration!!!*

You could kindly suggest to your friend that he handle it himself, perhaps with the help of others in his life, now that you’ve given him some generous FReeper advice.

All this is why I have asked for ALL the paperwork, as I can then make phone calls and find a RE attorney in MA, who can do whatever is necessary to stop the foreclosure and raping the will, as it were.

I loved that old woman, and I’m sure, if she had even had an inkling of what was to come after her demise, she would have trusted me with more information.

Once I get her attorney’s info, I can also get her bank info; she worked for Polaroid for years, and had several investments, so she would have had an attorney for all of that.

(At the moment, I feel as if I could bitch-slap a certain son of hers for being so stupid in May. PTSD, for sure.)

If he thought “someone else” could get the job done, he would have already taken care of it.

*whew*sigh*blargh*

At the moment, I want to go throw rocks at his bus.

Hmmm. Sort of puts a new spin on the phrase, "All politics is local," doesn't it?

Politics, from the root words poly - meaning many, and ticks - meaning small, bloodsucking parasites.

At the moment I’m sure we could imagine a line forming in front of that certain son of hers like the line in ‘Airplane’.

Actually, I can see you showing him a stack of papers and saying, ‘Here’s all you need to make sure you don’t get ripped off.’

Then throwing the papers into a shredder or an open flame.

(Am I being too nasty?)

And it’s one that is sure to lower my BP, if I dwell on it long enough. ;o]

I’m still not happy about going to DMV tomorrow. I should be home, then, washing clothes, but that will have to wait.

Right now, I should probably go to bed and hope my life looks better in the AM. But why should it? I will still be confronted with the same things that beset me now.

My kidneys are hurting and that’s probably why I’m so stinking cranky. And with that, I’m going to hope that there is enough left in my account to cover all the stuff I need to get.

I need some (a LOT of) Pink Drink and some Pretzels...

And with all that, I’m taking my ugly self to bed.
