The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
I hope you’re okay, nully. Our issuer has coverage for this kind of thing.
A warning to all, especially animal lovers, the charge to the shelter was a test by the thief to see if it would slip past notice. Bank security said the thief was most likely local at or near a Point of sale because the shelter was a local one. A hard core theft would have tried to max out immediately.
I got in touch with the shelter to warn them and found that mine was only one of several fraudulent charges made to them. Felt bad for the shelter as they watched the supposed donations go up in smoke.
Prickly situation calls for some special coffee this morning with an extra sugar cube by my personal wait staff,
What helpful little pets!
We are Siamese if you please....

It wasn’t me. My cats are at the Rainbow Bridge so it wasn’t them.
That said I was mugged once in manhattan, someone stole my master card and master card people cancelled all the phony charges and issued a new card for me.
It was during the reign of mayor Dinkins.
Lets get the Viking kitties on it. Can they sniff it out?
You’re welcome. Good morning!
I got a RFID wallet a few months ago. Heard o these things happening,
I’d cancel the online charge to the shelter but then I’d feel so bad I’d write them a check.
Poor kitties and puppies.
Very cute hedgehogs. Anyone ever see one in real life?
Gefn...please, please tell me where that's from otherwise that song will be running through my mind all day. Lady and the Tramp? aarghhhh
“Lady and the Tramp”

“We are Siamese if you please.

Porcupines yes, hedgehogs no.
Mayor Dinkins, NYC first janitor
We had FRiends who used to live in the Charlotte area (moved away some years back) who had a hedgehog. Anoreth babysat it one year during the holidays.
It disliked me profoundly, so much that a year or more later, when we were over at their house to watch the election results (Bush vs. Kerry), it remembered my voice and started hissing when I came in.
We have that shark balloon. I should get Tom to find all its pieces so the Cub Scouts can fly it through the church.
73 degrees, 75%, calm winds.
No wonder I woke up sweating...
Yuck!
Our forecast has 100+ for the next few days. Pat and James will be in the mountains, but Vlad is going to camp nearby. Hopefully they’ll get lots of time in the pool.
Every time I see that tagline, I have to smile.
It has pieces? They have kits for such now days?
Sheesh, I really am a curmudgeonly geezer.
hegde hogs hiss?
Must sound like a tiny possum....
“Air Swimmers,” you can get them from Amazon in several different fish designs. Of ours, a boy says, “It broke.”
They have teeth like a tiny possum, and they squeak and hiss.
Not all credit card thieves take a lot out all at once, when stealing your info.
About 10 years ago, I noticed a $50 charge on my account and I live so close to the wire all the time that the money represented about a week’s worth of groceries.
I contacted the credit union and they immediately refunded the money while researching the origin of the theft. It came from Eastern Europe, and when they told me that, they also told me that the thieves would take that amount or less to verify the account was valid and active, and then they would take more at a later time.
The credit union didn’t wait...they changed all my account information.
