The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
Come and do mine, OK? Please?
If you know of a local nail salon, I’ll send you the cost of a manicure.
There are probably a dozen of them within walking distance, including one in Walmart.
Well, pick one you want to try and check their price. I would go, but I’m busy with this toilet thing ...
The one in Walmart charges $26 for a full set, and I’m sure other places are comparable. The salon down on Pacific used to charge $29, but they have a full spa there, so they may offer discounts.
They’ve been there for a long time...both places, have, actually. At least the nine years I’ve lived here.
Our Walmart has a salon, too.
If I went to the one on Pacific, I could get my hair trimmed, too.
Wow, that’s a deal. Reminds of the Emerald City beauty shop!
They even give massages there!!!
Which is better than wine for what ails a person ... though not as convenient.
No idea.
Thanks!!
You’re welcome!
I might get another coat on my fingernails before I have to leave for church. It’s quick-drying polish.
The salon on Pacific moved to Water Street, and they are closed today and tomorrow, but I sent them an email.
Good show! Gives you something to look forward to.
I just found a better website for the spa, and since they moved, they raised all their prices. Looks like I will be going to Walmart. It’s a good thing they started doing hair, lately. They used to only do Manis and Pedis. GAH!
But I think they are open six days a week, so that’s better.
Hands Across America.
Probably a better slogan than, "Nails On The Chalkboard".
Chalkboards are a thing of the past.
I have a whiteboard for my grocery list. It is on the fridge, so when I think of something I need, I write it immediately, or I will forget it. And I hate that!
There was one for the freezer too, but the freezer is almost empty. I need to find some meats on sale and buy them. (Darn computer payments...)
I have scraps of paper all over.
