The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
Never travel without a spare. It's a hard world out there.
Wow, that’s a lot of Floof!
It is morning. So I have been told, and I’m wishing it was time to go back to bed. It was a miserable night.
So awful in fact that I ran the battery down in my Nook. Ungh.
74 and 24%, winds, calm.
Awww...FLOOFY SQUEE!
Sorry to hear that. We’re expecting 99 degrees.
We’re making another attempt to have Kathleen do her business in the toilet, but she’ll probably outlast us. We have to leave in about an hour for the Mecklenburg Natural Resources office, where the Envirothon team will be learning something about urban watershed.
Perhaps Kathleen is protesting your busy life in the only way she knows how.
But then, child psychology was never my forte.
Who knows ...
It will all work out in some way.
Back when that was First Union Plaza, that atrium space was one of my projects. Our design for the skylight was wind tunnel tested in model form because of the strange existing building configuration. When hurricane Hugo hit we had just finished putting in the last pane of glass in the skylight two days before. Lost only one glass panel from a flying paving tile from a nearby high rise tower. Window glass from contiguous buildings took hard hits. Bank VP for project was very happy with us. I spent a lot of time down there during construction. Different time and now a different place.
Yes, we have been there, although not recently. We don’t do a lot of visiting uptown; hate trying to park. DP and I went to a charity fundraiser at the “atrium” once.
I’ve never been there because when I go to NC, I go as a visitor.
I never knew there was anything like that. It’s really quite beautiful!
I went to Walmart to exchange a jar of mayo that had soybean oil as the first ingredient for one that has no soybean oil. I also picked up a couple of other things, and the checker didn’t know how to stack two items so they were less bulky, but also didn’t know how to put them into a bag. I showed her how to do both. I’m surprised she spoke American at all, let alone with a deep accent.
I came out into the cool morning, shaking my head. GAH!
lol!!
Kitty has a smug!
I see people have been busy in Real Life today. We are exhausted after being uptown all day, and Bill still has to go get Sally from her audition. I thought it would be like the previous one, which was only about 20 minutes once they got started, but it’s more like a tryout+workshop.
What is “real life”?
I’m not sure any more.
Writers often have that problem.
Real life was a shower. It felt good, but the first thing I wanted to do was go to bed. NOT!
Now, I’m hungry.
*tagline*
I ate a chicken chimichanga and that does it for the calories for the day.
Actually, I’m saving the last 180 for when I take my evening pills, (always the worst to get down without food to push it) and maybe a snack later.
Kathleen has gone in her diaper, *sigh*.
At least now she can be put to bed, along with all her brothers.
