The cause of an early morning fire north of San Diego was an electrocuted bird falling from an active power line
A bird carrying a snake in its talons struck power lines north of San Diego, sparking a hillside fire just west of The Merge.
San Diego Police arrived to the location on Dunhill Street near the intersection of Interstates 5 and 805 just before 6 a.m.
Flames were burning very close to businesses including the General Atomics building, officials said.
Officers called in San Diego Fire-Rescue crews who contained the fire within an hour.
Fire officials initially told NBC 7 a bird with a snake in its mouth was electrocuted on a power line and fell to the ground, sparking the fire. A photo released by officials later shows the snake in the hawk's grasp.
"A hawk that hit the high voltage power line, caught fire, and fell to the ground," SD Fire-Rescue spokesperson Lee Swanson said in a written release.
There were no structures damaged and no evacuations ordered.
This area of San Diego is home to many companies in the region's biochemical industry.
*pounce*
RATZ! I pounced but landed on you. Serves you right for taking the W00t! LOL!
So tell me Laz, is bkepley related to you? I see an awful lot of similarities... :ducking and running:
Yeah, that. On the UT the correct response is “Whatever sinks your sub” or “Whatever sails your castle.”
Nobody boats here.
You should take that as an endorsement that bkepley is an a-hole.
He proved it (again) a few messages down.
What an a-hole bkepley is.
Nah. I'm just an a-hole detector. Not an a-hole like bkepley
For a moment, I thought your middle daughter’s name was “Sloth.”
Yeah, my construction of sentences in the English language has that effect on people.
Sloth, my middle daughter ...
I’ve been known to call several of my children that.
She was fortunate enough to get a good chunk of her DNA from her mother.
If there’s any sloth in her it’s from me, and pretty deeply buried.
What’s she doing in Colombia?
(The link to the picture doesn’t work.)
She’s been helping a Teen Challenge center develop a curriculum for the kids of the people who are in the program. If you just go to catmaybe.tumblr.com you can read about the entire experience from the beginning.
She learned Spanish just for this project, which impresses the snot out of me. (Yes, I can’t even sneeze right now.) I couldn’t learn Spanish that well with 4 years of HS classes.
Book Spanish is much different than Street Spanish. I could carry on a reasonable conversation in Spanish in my early teens, with a few hilarious mistakes, but only pulled a B+ in my Spanish class in high school.
Kids are pretty impressive. My son learned Spanish in about six months.
Been gone a few days. Prayers on the way!
What’s that?
Add you to the main UT pinglist?
Okay.
lol
Thanks.
Anoreth could read Spanish when she was in Panama, but couldn’t understand the people talking.
The dialects are what I had problems with because in reading Spanish, there are no dialects to listen to. Lots of Latin American countries use Spanish, but the people have a hard time if they go to Spain, and even certain areas of Spain are different than others.
Kinda like the South here differing so much from New England, or from the Upper Midwest.
Our Spanish teacher was a priest who had studied in Spain and he told us on the first day of class, in English, that it was the only time he would speak English, and that if we got caught passing notes, the notes had better be in Spanish or we would get an hour Detention.
It was almost the Second Semester before anyone dared to pass a note! LOL!
I dunno, Darks, I kinda got the impression that bkepley didn’t want to be on a ping list, but we are so low volume, maybe he will change his mind.
Of course, with Laz nagging over his shoulder all the time, it’s kinda hard to tell what bkepley actually does want. ;o]
