I live close to an air field and once or twice a year they sponsor an air show featuring WWII aircraft. My house shakes as the B-17 flies over me. Like you, it makes me feel patriot and proud. I just wonder how many of millions of people planes like this helped to liberate.

At the same time, I'm left with a pit in my stomach knowing this country could never do the same today. More people in this nation are concerned with the latest on Bruce Jenner or Kim Kardashian. They could care less about individual liberty and freedom.

Maybe; maybe not. We were in pretty tough shape as country before WWII and figured it out.
This is still a very unique and amazing nation in spite of many things going on.
