I've seen many people have sucess at moie names knowing only a fdistant memories. Im hoping you can help me with an old video arcade game.
This was after pong but just before/during space invaders if I remember correctly. It was a game similar in graphics to asteroids that had two spaceships defending a group of ten or so fuel containers. The game lasted as long as you were able to keep wave after wave of enemy ships from stealing all the containers. My brother and I loved this game with one of us camping our ship near the containers and shooting the approaching ships as the other would fly after the theives and shoot them which forced the containers to be dropped.
The graphics were very old school. All black background with the two ships shaped somewhat like straightlined boomerangs.
Thanks for the help!
Great book! I think I’m going to re-read that.
A large portion of my brain was optimized for Asteroids. I could destroy while completely, er, “handicapped” shall we say.
“You can be my wingman anytime Maverick.”
“I’ll be your huckleberry.” ‘Doc’ to Ringo
Creepy is the word for Curley, that’s for sure.
I don’t remember actors like John Wayne, Clark Gable, Lee Marvin or Kirk Douglas talking like that.
They expressed their feelings by beating the hell out of one another.
IIRC that is Old West slang for I'll Oblige you... So in the Context of Doc to Ringo "I'll draw on you and I'll send ya ta hell and carry you to your grave."
First game I was hooked on was Bersekers.
Got lousy good at Defenders and PacMan.
Love Tempest to this day!
I wonder if the ROM is available...I’d never played that one.
Defender, maybe ?
The fight in Donovon’s Reef with Marvin was a good one. Of course The Quiet Man fight scene is epic.
I still say “I’ll be your huckleberry” sounds like something you could get punched for saying in The Seekers, She Wore A Yellow Ribbon or Unforgiven.
And Val was close to being a bath house towel boy in Top Gun.
Yes, the ROM data is available. It should play in MAME.
And McGillis.....
I was a young military pilot, so I liked he flying scenes.
One of the real Navy pilots who flew the A-4s in the mock combat sequences went on to become a 4-star admiral.
YES!!
My brain got stuck on "gravitron", and I couldn't figure it out. I LOVED that game. I hated that game. I could never finish all the planets. I wasted lots of coin trying. If I saw that game, it was the ONLY thing I played. It actually kind of pisses me off watching that Youtube video of an effortless wiping out of that first level.
