I’ve frequently heard that it is better to trim the carbs. An extreme is the Atkins diet.

An extreme is the Atkins diet.

It's only extreme in the Induction Phase.

Atkins is greatly misunderstood. After the first couple weeks, you can eat a huge variety of foods except your basic “white” foods like sugar, rice, pasta, bread and potatoes. On the Atkins menu is meat, fish, straight liquors, coffee, tea, cheese, real butter, cream, berries, melons, pineapple, passion fruit, apricot, avocado, tomatoes and pretty much all vegetables except potatoes, sweet potatoes, peas, corn and parsnips.

Back in my college days, we’d take pizzas and hot fudge shakes to the drive in and I maintained my 114 pound girlish figure. Today, looking at that picture of the hot fudge shake put on 10 lbs.
