From what I have read the casting couch was really bad back in the 50’s and 60’s.
I’d heard/read about the couch-in the 60’s-it was mentioned in articles in womens’ magazines that teen and preteen girls read-articles about Hollywood, movies, etc, so I guess it never occurred to me that it wasn’t anything other than sex between some horndog producer/director and a young woman willing to sleep her way to top billing-that there might have been coercion, but not rape or other abuse.
I read a book in the early 70’s by an adult actress who had also been a child star, telling about producers leading kids to that couch-sometimes with parental consent-as a condition for acting contracts, but before that I never realized that stuff involved any kids-only consenting adults.
