It’s not clear, whether he was 8 years old when “The Bridge Over The River Kwai” was made or just 8 years old when he saw it. However, he left out some notable films. “The Longest Day,” “Run silent-Run Deep,” “All Quiet On The Western Front” etc.

“All Quiet On The Western Front”

FYI, “all quiet” was only one of
a two book series.
The second book, “The Road Back”
is an alternate in which the main
character survives the end of the
war and faces ptsd and all the
situations returning veterans have
to deal with.

Quite a story in itself, it’s too
bad it was never brought to the screen.
