My Tivo recorded Kelly’s Heroes on Memorial Day and I’m watching it now. Lots of good effects, but so damn implausible that it’s utterly ridiculous. It has such a 60s hippy (Sutherland) and anti-Vietnam vibe to it that it is quite annoying. A big disappointment to me.

Oddball stole that movie. It’s implausibility is what makes it so good in my opinion.
Stealing the gold is one thing but how to handle the proceeds from the theft would be something else.

Sutherland is playing more of a fifty's Beatnik, the precursors of the "hippys." It's good entertainment. It probably should be considered a "war comedy."
I liked the way the characters complemented each other.
