Same sex relationships, having children outside of wedlock, having sex while you’re not married, having an affair with someone who — like you – is married, and even polygamy are now more acceptable to Americans than ever before. See here the results of Gallup’s Values and Beliefs survey:

Gallup explains:
The upward progression in the percentage of Americans seeing these issues as morally acceptable has varied from year to year, but the overall trend clearly points toward a higher level of acceptance of a number of behaviors. In fact, the moral acceptability ratings for 10 of the issues measured since the early 2000s are at record highs.
Now, I could pretend to be shocked by this, but I’m not. There’s a growing trend in the entire Western world toward social liberalism. This is especially true with regard to issues like homosexual relationships, but also with regard to abortion and a host of other supposedly moral issues. These social liberal issues are pushed relentlessly down people’s throats by activists, politicians and even popular culture. He who can resist it is very strong - or very stubborn.
As a libertarian, I’m in favor of legalizing gay marriage, allowing people to have children outside of marriage, and — yes — of not punishing them when they have an affair. It’s not up to the government to intervene in such matters. Gallup’s research shows most of you will agree with that.

Control of reproduction, aging and disease will CHANGE everything.
The old family cycle for humans was based on guaranteed pregnancy between males and females. It was also based on aging and set lifespans.
Today pregnancy can be completely eliminated from the cycle. Today people of any sex can merge their DNA into children. And very very soon people will have the ability to never age and never get disease.
Most of the natural incentives for traditional family will not exist anymore so people will be free to completely explore their world as they see fit.
Change is rough sometimes but it is unstoppable, inevitable and just the way things will be. You can’t force people to adopt an old system that no longer makes sense in a new world
If you do not tether “morality,” meaning the standard of right and wrong conduct, to the Bible or the Koran or the Mosaic Law or some other religious authority, then you must chose another standard. The Golden Rule? Hollywood? The ruling or dominant culture? What is in the best interests of society as a whole? Who decides that?
I wonder how many FReepers even find this normal and acceptable?
Well, this American doesn’t embrace it.

Precisely. The ONLY rules on personal conduct should be: do not steal from or physically harm your neighbor.
Anything besides that is nanny-statism or “pre-crime”.
Narcissism allows all that. This me too feelings culture has given people all kinds of justifications for most heinous and distrustfull deeds. Gone are the days I could invite people at my house without worrying. Nice people who seem to have low life-IQs are tolerated and then you finally realize the ugly truth you suspected all along.
