I switched to Yosemite about 2 months ago. Absolutely trouble-free and totally pain-free upgrade. No killer must-have features that I've found. And I think Photos is a big step backward from iPhoto -- it's aimed at the clueless selfie crowd. You can't edit EXIF info with the app, so photos taken with my Olympus OM‑D E‑M1 mirrorless camera don't have geo coordinates. Major bummer.

I went back to the original camera software that came with my camera. Try that, if it was included with your camera.

You’re right about the selfie crowd. We should call this the selfie generation.
