Might have been an old coal bin. I can remember the coal trucks making deliveries.

We used to run up and watch the coal drivers put the metal chute together, pull the chain on the hatch and listen to loud clatter as the coal slid, bounced, and rattled down. Got to pick up the small chunks for throwing. An army of small boys and girls followed the truck down the block.

I vaguely remember the old coal furnace and how glad my dad was when we “finally” switched to oil.
