Did Denny Hamlin jump the final restart of All-Star Race? #41-Kurt Busch and #4-Kevin Harvick weren't exactly sore losers Saturday night, but they did accuse winner #11-Denny Hamlin of bending the rules to win the Sprint All-Star Race. Both Busch and Harvick said Hamlin jumped the final restart of the 110-lap race. Hamlin won the final race off pit road, putting him in the lead for the final 10-lap segment. He jumped out to a quick lead on the final restart while Harvick passed Busch for second. Harvick tried to run Hamlin down over the final 10 laps, but Hamlin was able to hold him off for his first all-star victory. Busch and Harvick said Hamlin took off too soon on the final restart.
"We'll have to go to the tape to see if Denny went too soon," said Busch, who finished third. "His car went two car lengths before (the line), in my mind. I was asleep at the wheel."
Harvick, who finished second, also said it appeared Hamlin may have restarted too soon. "It just depended on how everything shook out on the restart," Harvick said. "Denny sped up, slowed down and took off way early."
Hamlin admitted he might have restarted just a bit early, but not enough to matter.(Sporting News)(5-17-2015)
