Special scheme at Charlotte for Bowyer: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series continues its "home" visit in Charlotte this weekend. The sport's longest race of the year is a Memorial Day tradition at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Another tradition is honoring those who serve and have served. Clint Bowyer's #15 Cherry 5-hour ENERGY Toyota will be outfitted in red, white and blue colors with a special decal for the Special Operations Warrior Foundation again this weekend. A portion of sales from a special cherry 5-hour ENERGY bottle now through July 31 goes to the organization that supports the military's special operations forces and their families through college scholarships, family services, and financial stipends. Bowyer's windshield also honors the service of his paternal grandfather, Dale E. Bowyer. The special windshield decal is a part of NASCAR's 600 Miles of Remembrance, honoring military service members and their families. Dale E. Bowyer is Clint Bowyer's paternal grandfather and was a 1st Lieutenant in the United States Army. He won the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Distinguished Service Cross for extraordinary heroism while fighting the armed enemy in Germany during World War II.(MWR), see images of the scheme on the #15 Team Schemes page.(5-21-2015)

Special Military scheme for the #38 at Charlotte: Love's Travel Stops & Country Stores gives a personal look at how "The Unknown Soldier" was chosen for the windshield name decal on David Gilliland's #38 Ford for the Coke 600. Charles "Wahoo" Sampson's main job each week for the Front Row Motorsports team is to get the Love's #38 driven by David Gilliland to its racetrack destination on time. The car he delivers to the Charlotte Motor Speedway days before the Coca-Cola 600 on Memorial Day weekend will be extra special. And it will have his imprint on the windshield. In honor of those killed in service of the United States, NASCAR is displaying the names of fallen soldiers on race cars, the specifics of which were up to the teams, sponsors and drivers. Front Row looked to their 47-year-old team member, a Marine who has served many tours of duty and who lost a number of brothers during that time. Wahoo picked "The Unknown Soldier," dedicated to all soldiers of all ranks and all branches and dates of service who made the ultimate sacrifice for America. Wahoo said he couldn't identify just one person to remember. Wahoo prefers not to go into detail about his time in combat, only noting that he's immensely grateful to those who made the ultimate sacrifice.(Loves Travel Stops), see images of the scheme on the #38 Team Schemes page.(5-21-2015)
