FULL TITLE - Tom Brady will be suspended by Roger Goodell for role in DeflateGate, announcement expected next week
Goodell is ruining the NFL.
If I was Brady, I would more probably than not sue the living sh!t out of Goodell.
I think this is a publicity-driven item.
But, it is what it is... what’s the over-under on how many games? My bet is two.
The couple of weeks off and seasoning/testing of Garappolo will probably help the team.
And yeah, I thought Brady was up to his hair plugs in it from the second he gave that loopy press conference before the SB.
Someone needs to build a squeeze da ball machine.. Or robot.. Or sumthin.. A commish paid a gazillion dollars forget to bulletproof the business.. And now . welllll..
To see him laughing and smirking when asked about it bothered me more than having to watch him hoist the Super Bowl trophy.
And that bothered me a lot.
Yes. After all, NFL Football is the most important religion now worshiped in the Western World.
Saints fans will be watching this with interest.
Patriots also should be forced to forfeit their Super Bowl win and be banned from it for a few years.
Ho hum. If they stripped the Patriots of the Super Bowl title, that would be appropriate punishment.
Not a Patriots fan or hater. Just putting my 2 cents in. I doubt ANY pro team in any sport has never tried shave the odds in their favor in some way. Baseball has been known for sloping the baselines foul against visitors with good bunting teams. What about the old “spit ball” controversy, manifest in modern times by loading up a ball with Vaseline? Or nicking balls so a curve will bite more? Is a home field/ court advantage unfair to the point it compromises the game. . . and don’t forget the Mississippi State cowbells? What about the NASCAR motor magicians who look for ways to gain an advantage? What about roughing up an opponent on the basketball court or trash talking to get in a good player’s head?
Folks, bending/stretching (and yes even breaking) the rules is, and has been, a part of sport for a long time. Brady probably deserves a little punishment, but it is NOT the federal case that many in the media, and some Patriot haters, make it out to be. Slap him on the wrist, threaten even more severe punishment, and let’s settle it on the field, not in the argument.
Shady Brady......
Tempest in a teapot.
Actually I think that the game would be more interesting if the players and teams could be more innovative in this way. all that this sort of thing does is to stagnate the game. Hell it’s called a competition! Let them compete on all levels. Let baseball pitchers put tar on their fingers. Why not? The batters will have to get better.
... Brady cheated....
He gets suspended for a year for one less PSI, while the Clinton’s scam $250 million from donors and the IRS and get off Scott free. America.
I was never a Brady fan before all this. But the NFL is really screwing up IMO.
Fortunately for me, I’d given up watching back when the owners ganged up on Rush LImbaugh’s owning a piece of an NFL team. So no loss here. But I hate seeing anyone railroaded like Brady seems to be here.
I try to feel sorry for this guy, but in the end he always seems to hold the ultimate trump card:
“Ok, you got me. I guess I’ll have to settle for going home and having sex with Gisele Bundchen...........
pbtpbtpbtpbtpbtpbtpbt-pfffffffffffffffff”
Eh...I just have a hard time believing that low ball pressure makes that much difference to the outcome of a game. I’ve thrown and caught hundreds of footballs in my life and, yes, a softer ball is easier to catch, not so sure about throwing. But in my day, nobody used gloves to CATCH the ball. With the tacky gloves these receivers are wearing today, I am not sure how much difference ball pressure makes.
IMO, what they should do is have the NFL control possession of the game balls at all times. Establish an allowable range of air pressure and allow each team to select a pressure from within that range. The balls would be thrown and caught for some time prior to the game to “condition” them. The officials would pressurize the balls prior to each half of the game, and each offense would get to use the balls with the pressure they chose. I a professional quarterback cannot throw a ball inflated to 7 psi, maybe they need to try another profession.
In this household they have been known as the New England Cheatriots for years.. along with their coach Bill Billacheat.
