Having trouble seeing the shield. Is it that ridge around the shoulder area, indicating he was buried on his shield.]

Or is it the small item under his left arm?

Or am I completely missing it?

It appears to me that the curved ridge on the left passing the skull and then turning down on the right might be the edge of the shield beneath the skeleton.
