Has there been any long period in boxing where there hasn’t been scandals and shananigans that played the fans for fools? At this point the fans should have known better.
Even if there was no scandal, the fact that one of the main characters was allowed to duck the fight until the two opponents were past their prime cheated the sport from one of the greatest fights in history. It also contributed to making boxing into a joke.

My only hope is that this fight will go on Mayweather's record with an asterisk. Him and all his BS about his legacy make me want to hurl. Where have all the men of honor gone? But then, I suppose Pro boxing isn't the place to start a Diogenean type search.

Boxing is one of the few activities which I believe would actually benefit from federal oversight.
