I think the Republican Party is shooting itself in the foot by trying to make major cuts in the earth sciences part of the NASA budget. Are they afraid somebody will prove they are wrong? If they want to prove the science is wrong, then they should want more data points, not fewer. If they are supporting their big contributors who don’t want more science, then where does that leave us little guys? Breathing worsening air?
The point is, there IS no science supporting anthropogenic climate change, never has been -- it's political in origin, and supported by leftist NGOs. EACH TIME the ludicrous claims of the global warming hoaxers have been researched they've been shown to be dead wrong.
The oceans are warming at depth, and it's hiding the excess heat, and it's going to reemerge and bite us all in the ass! Wrong, the oceans get brinier and colder with depth, and they always have, and it's an obvious consequence of known physical laws. That doesn't stop the left from trotting out that drumbeat for years, being proven wrong, then after a decade or so, trotting it out AGAIN (that's going on right now) as if it's a new idea, and remaining wrong.
Meanwhile, since the early 1970s, the industrialized countries of the 1st World -- especially including the US -- have been getting cleaner air and cleaner water, despite the best efforts of Luddites. The reasons China wasn't under the same requirements as the rest of the world, despite being the largest polluter, is that the Luddites know that some of the pollution savings resulted from pushing jobs offshore with so-called environmental protection; the other big reason is, China's Commie, and the leftists don't want another large Commie dictatorship to implode like the USSR.
- Timothy Wirth: "We've got to ride the global warming issue. Even if the theory [sic] of global warming is wrong, we will be doing the right thing."
- Stephen Schneider: "Each of us has to decide the right balance between being effective and being honest."
