I asked a similar question in college, specifically around the wall-to-wall ear-to-ear foundation crème makeup that (supposedly) matched their natural skin coloring. I was told (by some Mary Kay aficionados) that they needed to apply it in order to protect their skin from pollution and other harsh airborne elements. They claimed that if they didn't, they would age prematurely.

When I pointed out to them that they were wearing sleeveless blouses, and that they weren't wearing foundation over their arms and other exposed skin, they didn't have an answer :)

I never heard that one. I'll stay away from Mary Kay. Foundation evens out skin tone, nothing more.

Sounds like someone didn't know how to pick the right shade.

Um, that’s what sunscreen is for, and arms don’t wrinkle.
