An investigation has concluded Freddie Gray broke his neck after falling head-first into the back of the police van as it was moving, it was reported today. The news comes hours after Baltimore Police admitted the van transporting Gray made a previously unreported stop (pictured, left). The mysterious detail was picked up by a privately-owned security camera, and will be integral to the police investigation into Gray's death. Medical and law enforcement sources briefed on the police investigation told ABC News Gray's 'catastrophic' head injuries were consistent with hitting a bolt 'in the back door of the van'. They claimed there was 'no evidence' Gray sustained a fatal spine injury during his arrest, which was caught on camera on a street side on April 12. The report that Gray fell inside the van corroborates claims he was given a 'rough ride' by the van driver, who is the only officer yet to deliver a statement to the investigators. According to the sources, Gray was standing in the van, bent over with his hand cuffed behind his back and his head pointing towards the back door. It is believed he fell into the door, breaking his neck. Police Commissioner Anthony Batts (bottom right) refused to elaborate on the new information.

How did Freddie get hurt, but the other prisoner did not?
They were in the same van.
I don’t know.
The police may have been negligent in not securing him back there. Then they did not get medical help when I heard he asked for it. That is not manslaughter but it needs to be corrected and it does leave them (the city) potentially financially liable, if true.
“It looks like the failure of the police to strap him down is what they are mostly likely guilty of.”
That’s what a nickle ride is.
What we don’t know is if he was sat down and did this intentionally (standing up). But this doesn’t look good.
I’d like to see a picture of the actual van from the rear looking forward, towards the driver’s seat.
If anyone finds one, ping me.

A woman with her identity obscured was on CNN with Don Lemon. She is close to one of the police officers and wanted to speak out in their behalf.
She was told that he was acting “irate” and it is protocol, not to lean over and strap in with a seat belt a perp because they might bite the officer as they reach across to secure the belt.
It is possible the guy was trying to injure himself so as to avoid a jail cell or something. It would be hard to prove. If he was otherwise restrained, they should have strapped him in. Normally people do not wear restraints in larger vehicles like buses and large vans. But I would think if the person had their hands and/or feet restrained that they should also be strapped to the seat. If not the current practice it is high time that start doing it.
The only thing I can draw from is movies and TV shows. Usually the people have handcuffs and leg chains but no seatbelt. But that is proof of nothing in the real world.
Remember folks, and shout it from the hills.
THIS HAPPENED IN A COMPLETELY DEMOCRAT-RUN CITY!!!!
I think we might want to offer THIS as a script.idea.. to S.N.L.

and in the van we can put Hillary,Debbie Wasserman,Patty Murry and Elizabeth Warren. all in full riot gear.ready to beat down the thugs if they get out of control.
I have had first hand accounts of these joy rides in the patty wagon from guys in the 70s. Broken bones, etc...
Violent starts and stops, sharp turns, they were trying to hang on with their teeth.
Freddie was no stranger to a paddy wagon.
The testimony of the fellow prisoner-passenger will be of the utmost interest.
The trouble with securing is that belts can be used to commit suicide. You just wrap one around your neck and slump off the seat.
Some good pics here:
If Freddie Gray had stood up during the ride, it wouldn’t be anything at all. It only needs to be shown the driver drove with reasonable due care.
Anderson Cooper interviewed an unidentified friend of an officer at the Gray arrest yesterday who claimed to know what happened.

points he/she made: the wagon has GPS so any “nickel ride” would show up on that.
the wagon was stopped to shackle Gray’s legs because he was irate
Gray was not belted in when shackled, due to lack of room and the possibility of injury from a still irate Gray.
mayor and police officials know all this and didn’t speak up. they let the riots happen and then blamed the police.
as always, on these sorts of things, it’s best to wait and see. rather than jumping to conclusions.
Daily Mail has really good pictures of the van type.
It’s a Scooby van, same model as Hellery’s! The SS should configure a new one for PIAPS, like a police paddy wagon. It’s more appropriate, and has room for Bubba, Chelsea, and sundry white trash-grifting Clinton Foundation criminals!
Thanks. Appears possible the driver has access to a view to the rear passenger area.
Do they have video of stop #5?
Looking at those pics....where was the other prisoner? He supposedly couldn’t see him. Where is another compartment in that vehicle?
