The city is named after Cecil Calvert, second Lord Baltimore, (1605–1675), a member of the Irish House of Lords and the founding proprietor of the Colony and Province of Maryland.

now my search for the origin of the Name must go back a few more years I guess

IIRC, from reading many years that Baltimore was a small burgh on the Irish coast and was once raided by North African moslem slavers who carried off nearly the whole town.
