Before protests over Freddie Gray’s death turned chaotic, an unlikely alliance was born in Baltimore on Saturday: Rivals from the Bloods and the Crips agreed to march side by side against police brutality.
The alleged gang members are pictured on social media crowding together with Nation of Islam activists, who told The Daily Beast they brokered the truce in honor of Gray, who died last week after sustaining spinal injuries while in police custody.
In one photo, a gang activist in a red sweatshirt crouches to fit into a group photo with rivals decked out in blue bandanas.
“I can say with honesty those brothers demonstrated they can be united for a common good,” said Carlos Muhammad, a minister at Nation of Islam’s Mosque No. 6. “At the rally, they made the call that they must be united on that day. It should be commended.”
The detente was only a small part of the demonstration drawing 1,200 people to Baltimore’s City Hall, but it raised eyebrows among activists. Are things so bad that even Baltimore’s gang adversaries are joining forces to combat law enforcement?
“We can unite and stop killing one another,” Muhammad told The Daily Beast, “and the Bloods and the Crips can help rebuild their community.”
DeRay McKesson, an organizer known for his work in Ferguson, also confirmed the street-crime ceasefire. He live-tweeted Saturday’s mostly peaceful demonstration, which later descended into clashes with police and smashed storefronts and cop cars, and alerted followers of a possible respite in gangland.
“The fight against police brutality has united people in many ways that we have not seen regularly, and that’s really powerful,” McKesson told The Daily Beast. “The reality is, police have been terrorizing black people as far back as we can remember. It will take all of us

The unemployment/welfare line?
The negro mayor of Baltimore gave space for the black rioters to destroy things. The Crips and Bloods publicly state they will kill police. These people think they are conquerors, Lords without the legitimacy that the early Lords had.
I just heard from a family member in Baltimore that businesses are closing now. There is word out that members of various schools are beginning to meet to march into Baltimore in an effort block all intersections before the end of the business day. It may be another eventful evening news. Maybe the “good” mayor will reign in her hoodlum class this time instead of giving them room to destroy.
It’s like the Nika Revolt which almost cost Justinian his throne—the rival circus factions, the Blues and the Greens, combined against the government.
The question I have is will the new MD governor end calling in the NG to Baltimore?

I work in downtown Baltimore and the traffic looks like rush hour already. The exodis has begun.
Police presence is increasing.

I believe that the mayor was elected by majority vote. That says that she is the people’s choice. Let them enjoy her. If I was White and owned a business in Baltimore, the sun would have risen on it being loaded onto trucks and my ass getting the hell out of there. if I was White, by sunup, my ass would be gone, because what she implied is that should any White make any effort to defend themselves when attacked, the full power of the law will descend upon them. As Jesus said in the Holy Bible, “He that hath an ear let him hear....”

If this nitwit mayor won’t defend the public safety, Gov. Hogan needs to get a pair of balls and call out the National Guard.

Allocate police protection BASED ON POPULATION - NOT on how many people have black skin in a given area.
IT’S NOT THE JOB OF WHITE, ASIAN, AND HISPANIC CITIZENS TO PAY FOR BLACKS TO HAVE COPS BABYSIT THEM.
Blacks can just buy security system, form watch groups and do all the crap the rest of us have to do if we live anywhere near them.
NO MORE TAXES WASTED BABYSITTING THE ‘BLACK COMMUNITY’.. PERIOD. PULL THE COPS OUT OF HELLHOLES. They don’t like cops? Fine. They can protect themselves from their own thuggy offspring. On their own damn dime.
