What? It should be a phone at that price.

Wait, it requires a phone anyway, so it is a phone extension. It doesn’t tell time very well since you have to wave your hand around like an idiot to tell time. But it does a lot of other useless crap, so enjoy.

If you need continuous biometrics, you should be in ICU. Are you a stooge who wants to sit there obsessing with your vitals? I’ve had two bypasses with stints and I don’t give a crap what my pulse is every second.

Enjoy life without the all the distractions. Movado “watches” (the first Apple watch) are crap. Stick with Tag Heuer, Breitling, Rado, and Rolex. Hell, a $50 Timex tells time pretty damned good. Check your pulse when you need to. A decent watch will time it to the nearest second.

Why be in an icu when a watch can gather the info I want? You can ignore your health all you like, but I’m interested in staying alive another 50 years, and if the price of one hour in icu can help me last that long, then I’d expect you’d wish me well with my Watch. I could be dead four times over already, so yeah I’d like to leverage technology to see my children’s children.

I’ll just tag you as a mean crank who wishes ill on any who disagree with your Luddite views, and duly ignore you. Up yours, Marxist.

You overpaid.

My current watch is an eleven-year-old Casio, which cost about $130 (titanium band — leather was about $80). Tells perfect time on its analog face. Sets itself every morning to the atomic clock (WWVB). Charges itself via solar cells in its face — no need to change batteries. The Japanese have forgotten more about horology than the Swiss know.

It's only defect is having to have the zone offset changed when traveling — e.g., Boston to Denver means manually changing the offset from -5 to -7 and watching the hands twirl around to the new time (it takes care of DST automatically).

Reportedly, Seiko has a model that gets its time from GPS. Thus, it's able to set the zone automatically, since it knows where it is...

Of course, the Apple Watch would be just as accurate and also not have the zone problem, right? Plus, there are all those potential benefits from hooking into the iPhone world. Not to mention, while more expensive than the Casio, it's cheaper than the Seiko...
