A precedent MUST be set that this type of behavior is not going to be tolerated OR defended. The sentence could have an alternate result: Amputate is harms and legs, cut off his tongue and set him in a big pot in an official building and feed him daily. There are things that are far worse than death. Americans generally don't think of them.
