NEW YORK (AP) - Ten top physicians want Columbia University to remove celebrity doctor Mehmet Oz from his medical faculty position.
They cite what they call the heart surgeon's "egregious lack of integrity" as host of a television program where he promotes weight loss products.
The letter was sent this week to the dean of Columbia's Faculties of Health Sciences and Medicine.
Led by Dr. Henry Miller of California's Stanford University, the physicians say Oz had "misled and endangered" the public by pushing what they call "quack treatments and cures."

Maybe they could send him wherever it was that Obama was during his two years at Columbia ...
“egregious lack of integrity”
Would fit right in with the Hillary campaign.
I heard he is a stinkin’ mooooose-lim. I have no use for moooose-lims.
He also has the “scare-the-hell-out-of-you” topics on his show daily. My wife watches it. I told her he gives me the creeps.
Above all, trust modern medicine with all your money.
Are these the same learned doctors who are drugging the masculinity out of all our boys and giving them breasts while making us all fat by telling us not to eat any fat or salt?
It's almost as if a cure for anything is not permitted.
Like any scientists, doctors hold on to old theories and refuse to accept change. It goes with their egos, they don’t want to admit for the past couple of decades they have been wrong. It is still why they push a diet high in grains and low in animal fat. It is why like you said they tell us to avoid salt, despite all evidence shows salt plays very little if any role in heart disease. Avoid sunlight, take statins, cholesterol is bad, carbs are good, etc.
It's like a mechanic who would say don't change your oil in your motor, just add water. See you soon.
The first time I saw him, the first thing that popped into my mind was: “I wonder where he parks his snake oil wagon while he is doing his show”?
I thought he was “the Oprah”’s poop?
Exactly
From what I gather, the guy promotes the natural path, but not at the exclusion of western Medicine... In other words, try taking the homeopathic, but if you have a serious condition, see your doctor and treat it accordingly.
I think it boils down to professional jealousy.
Is is taking the air out of the room for these ego maniacs.
Pass the pop corn
His eyebrows creep me out. Cannot he afford the cosmetic surgery or worse, did he pay someone to make himself look that way?
The doctors that are criticizing him would do well to knock off the name-calling (not necessarily this article, but others). If the guy is engaging in malpractice, conflict of interest, or something else prohibited, lay out that case. Don’t engage in the same media crap that Oz is.
Under the word “Quack” in the dictionary is his picture.
